From @hannahritchie.substack.com "My overall takeaway is pretty consistent with the reports above: in many cases (but not all) second-hand #electric cars are now cheaper upfront than #petrol [#ICE] equivalents. At the very least, I think it’s fair to say that they're cost-competitive. I think public perception is probably the opposite: there is still a dominant narrative that electric cars are much more expensive. "

www.sustainabilitybynumbers.comMany second-hand electric cars are cheaper up-front than their petrol equivalentsAnd no, it's not just for old ones that have done lots of miles.

I removed an electrical part for cleaning.

A wire sparked⚡ and later I noticed my battery monitor was dark. It stayed that way after I cleaned and reconnected the part.

I traced the wire from the back of the monitor in the control panel, through the bulkhead to the engine compartment, and into an electric box. And there it was: a blown fuse.

Fuse replaced (2 for £1.09). Battery monitor works. It says: 14.40.

How does a wasteful heat pump powered by fossil-fuel electricity help in decarbonizing buildings while extreme carbonizing rural areas where powerplants are?

It doesn't, it is just another fad by electric industries and oil/coal companies to advance their sales of electric crap with none or negative impact to the atmosphere.

Pretend you are an environmentalist while you reproduce oil/coal/elec industrial marketing.

The sculpture at Metrostation Weesperplein honors the old “Weesperpoortstation” (1843–1939), the former railway station from which to depart to Utrecht and Arnhem. Carved in sandstone, this artwork was erected in 1941.

Created by architect Piet Kramer in the ‘Amsterdamse School’ style, it displays three layered historical locomotives representing the railways’ evolution. 🚂🚃🚄

The first steam train between Amsterdam and Haarlem (sept. 20, 1839) drove at the speed of 30 km/h and was pulled by a locomotive called “De Arend”. In 1908, the country’s first electric train took off between Rotterdam Hofplein and Scheveningen Kurhaus. It was powered by a 10,000-volt AC system from a dedicated power plant. 🔋⚡

The first diesel train followed in 1934, running from Amsterdam to Arnhem. 🚂💪

@tk Yes.

A 3-wheeled cabin scooter so people get the advantage of a #car (staying dry in the rain and warm in the snow) with the advantages of a #motorcycle (excellent fuel range and economy)...

So yeah I'm confident something in the price range of €5k - €10k in the class L2e [ max. 4kW/50cm³/45km/h ] can be built that doesn't require wearing a helmet and isn't totally jank.

Sitting here in a lineup on #bchwy4 for some road work.

Our 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric just passed 200,000km this week! I got a snap of the odometer at palindrome 199991 which was satisfying. But a sudden snow storm/hail storm prevented me from capturing 200k and 200002 officially, but that's ok.

I just made its *first* appointment to have its brake pads replaced. Amazing longevity on these EVs for brakes. I really should have done it about 10k ago but still.

Great car. Age is starting to catch up a bit.

It needs the EV battery coolant flushed/replaced this year, and some small stuff is wearing:

The passenger side seat heater is on the fritz, and one of the door lock mechanisms is extra loud.

But all things considered, for the amount of kilometres in the past 5 years (really more like 3 due to pandemic), and the addition of the utility trailer, it's doing great! #EV #Kona #Hyundai #Electric #carlife
