A fascinating preprint investigating the 'mechanical morphogenesis' -- the complex shapes generated by growth and expansion of #brains. This compares 70 species of New World vs Old World #monkeys. As Katja Heuer @k4tj4 asks: 'To predict the behaviour of a primate, would you rather base your guess on a closely related species or one with a similar brain shape?'

Complex shape figures as a 3rd major factor along with genetic inheritance and experience.
