Hey, answer me this, friends. If you were reading a book in which the protagonist spent 1-2 days riding through an unfamiliar rainforest/jungle with one person she was mad at and another she was intimidated by, what are some things you would definitely want to happen during the journey?
@mishellbaker I feel like poison dart frogs don't get the attention they deserve
@mishellbaker Tick removal can be very uncomfortable and intimate and gross. Bathroom breaks become fraught, because you might need someone to guard you. A sudden downpour I would DEFINITELY expect, most likely ruining food / soaking clothes / etc! A leaky tent. And something would poop on someone from the canopy.
@mishellbaker Er, and also the beauty of nature. Ahem.
Fungus. Someone should need help from someone else dealing with fungus in uncomfortable, private locations.
Or, on the happier side of things, "adorable baby animals in need of rescue" is one of my favorite wilderness complications.
@mishellbaker a noise or a light or a shadow that's initially terrifying but turns out to be nonthreatening or even beneficial or adorable.
@q_aurelius I have the perfect thing for this.
@mishellbaker I’d love to read about a startling moment or two, amid their hardships and fear, where the beauty of their surroundings captures their awe, shifting the dynamics between them.
