Black and White set with @boackaertmodel during my last masterclass in Brussels (@(@malinamore.studio). Make up, as usual by the amazing @alice.m.mua.

I rarely shoot black and white, but when I do, I do it intentionally. The lighting set is chosen to create an high contrast between the model and the background. Also the model clothing are chosen to contrast with the model skin and still keep the subject detached from the background.

What are your experience. Do you decide before taking the picture if the picture will be black and withe or you let your creativity drive you during post production ?

Meet Leopold, my beloved little cat. This is one of the most important photos I made of him. Leopold loved to be photographed but got sick right after we moved to a new place last year. He had the cone of shame for more than 3 months. I was shooting a portrait for the first time after the move, and when he saw this photo opportunity, he immediately came and tried to climb up to the chair in his giant collar. He knew this was his time to shine, so I removed his collar, brushed his mane, and turned down the power of the flash - as I used a beauty dish, and I didn’t want to hurt his eyes. Even though he is fluffy, you can still see the dents on his front legs from the blood tests and on his mane from the collar. But he knew he was beautiful and confidently showed the camera what a cat looks like in its prime. @️@imleopoldthecat@mastodon.social
