Danke. #osm

uMap just released version 3.0, first one to officially support real-time collaborative editing. But also, very importantly: "a first version of a real undo/redo", which used to be a recurring problem when I ran training (a Ctrl + Z would undo all the changes you've made since the last save).

@markstos being on iOS, I tend to stick with the following two for contributing: Go Map!! and Mapillary.

I’ll use Go Map!! to make direct edits to the map while on site.

I’ll use Mapillary to capture street level images for later consumption by people editing from their desktop devices.

The diverse ecosystem of #OSM apps and developers can be overwhelming in the beginning. It’s okay just to edit in the browser. I used the browser editor exclusively for a long time.

I've recently started being very interested in #OpenStreetMap :osm: and have tried various #OSM apps.

The #GoogleMaps feature that I miss in OSM is clicking on a place and seeing a list of reviews and photos of the place.

Is there a project built on top of OSM that adds the functionally of adding reviews, and/or easily uploading photos of a place? And an app that shows these reviews and/or photos?

after a whole day of morning of trying to figure out how to extract "bare rock" from aerial imagery of the Scilly Isles, I just went to overpass-turbo.eu/ and exported polygons marked "bare rock" from OpenStreetMap. Along with DTM data from environment.data.gov.uk/survey can now run a simple analysis to pinpoint rock outcrops above 10m asl - potential sites for Great Black Back Gulls to nest

overpass-turbo.euoverpass turboA web based data mining tool for OpenStreetMap which runs any kind of Overpass API query and shows the results on an interactive map.

I have lots of favorites (starred places) in #OSMand and I want to view them on a map on a bigger screen, not just on the phone. When I export them, I get a favorites.gpx file.

As far as I understand, these are waypoints on a track?

I opened the file in the nextcloud map, and it displays the points, but without any text.

The entries look like this:

<wpt lat="51.5320587" lon="-0.1773316">
<time>2025-01-18T22:23:30Z</time>
<name>Abbey Road Crossing</name>
<extensions>
<osmand:amenity_subtype>attraction</osmand:amenity_subtype>
<osmand:address>Abbey Road (South Hampstead), Camden Town</osmand:address>
<osmand:amenity_origin>Amenity:Abbey Road Crossing: tourism:attraction</osmand:amenity_origin>

I tried converting the file to (geo)json, but so far the file has come out empty. I realize I don't really know what I'm looking for. It doesn't have to be nextcloud compatible at all, that was just the first thing I had on hand.

I would like to see the points and their names on a map on a bigger screen.

Any suggestions please?

Alrighty. Several hours later, and I have Tarrant County's updated early voting locations :D

Overpass-turbo query: overpass-turbo.eu/s/21qx

Actual location info from county (can match up the numbers on the map to addresses): tarrantcountytx.gov/content/da

And a reddit post in the FortWorth subreddit: reddit.com/r/FortWorth/comment

So far, I only have locations that serve (at least) as early voting centers. There are several more pages of day-of voting centers that I could conceivably add. I'm debating building a small, static, mobile website with #Leaflet to perhaps make a "show me my closest voting station" feature, and maybe a "schedule my voting time" feature that spits out an ical file or something. The opening hours are all there in the OSM data.

(Annoying sidenote: most college/university locations are either early vote only, election day only, or not open at all :()
