The Masked School Library Tech

My desk brings me joy, and talking points for students. Here’s a little bit of it. Everything is either a gift from a student, a prototype craft to be made with a club, or just something I like. I also have a Lego mini figure box which includes the most amazing Rainbow Batman Lego knock-off a good friend gave me.

A collection of things including a painted stone with the word Hope across, a blue 3D printed stormtrooper helmet, a pipe cleaner cactus in a small paper cup with red stones holding it up, a woollen mini bobble hat, the back of a baby Yoda planter made out of a yoghurt pot, a small purple felted cat, a unicorn garden in a clear dome, and a jam jar with different pipe cleaner flowers in including a daffodil and a pipe cleaner dragonfly.

Research into animal emotions and experience has been on the rise since the late 20th century, and scientists are beginning to use these findings to help understand an age-old question: Do nonhuman animals have consciousness?

Typically, scientists assume that consciousness is absent unless evidence demonstrates it is present. But if such a vast number and wide range of animals now have at least a realistic possibility of consciousness based on existing evidence, then it does raise the question whether we should [instead] have a neutral starting point or proceed on the assumption that consciousness is present unless a lot of evidence indicates it is absent."

Oh, of course there are lots of things to be serious about, and not everything is a laughing matter, but neither is everything a matter of gloom, anger, anxiety, or angst.

And though the situation was a little out of her control, her attitude about it wasn't.
