I like how when Orson Welles wrote a leading role for Peter Bogdanovich, he wrote him as a charming yet incredibly arrogant, self-satisfied prick who was an up and coming director and protege of Oson's character. Basically, Orson just wrote him as he truly was and then cast him to play his pretty unlikable self. Incredible.

I've always been impressed by the brilliant soundtrack of Paul Verhoeven's early Dutch film Soldier of Orange (Soldaat van Oranje), composed by Rogier van Otterloo, who sadly passed away in 1988 at the age of 46.

A young Rutger Hauer stars in the film. Both Hauer and Verhoeven moved from the Netherlands to the US not long after this, to show their talents to a much larger audience.
