Ugh, I was right about to line my brownie tray with baking (parchment) paper when I realized we're out. Fellow bakers: would you just grease the tray or would you substitute aluminum foil for the baking paper?
Thanks so much to everyone who pitched in with answers! I'm going with almost-universal accord and greasing the pan (no foil involved). I really appreciate the help!
Don’t use foil, the brownie will get stuck to the foil and the foil will shred as you remove brownie squares and a tiny piece of foil will go unnoticed on the brownie - foil tastes very bad!
@stephanieburgis I am not an expert level baker but I’d go with greasing the pan. I’d be concerned about foil getting stuck to your brownies and aluminum is not the safest stuff.
@stephanieburgis It's probably too late but I wouldn't use foil (it tends to get caught in the brownies).
Instead I'd butter the pan and then dust with cocoa. Or flour if you don't have enough cocoa handy.
@wordshaper Thank you!
