The Garfield Park Conservatory's Victoria Water Lily is in bloom!

Three very large flat round lily pads with short vertical walls (that look like tart pans or pizza pans) float on the water. They have beads of water all over them, and the outside of the "walls" are pink and covered with spiky hairs. IN between them are some smaller varieties of water lilies, with a few large buds poking above the surface of the water. Below the surface of the water, in between the pads, can be seen several koi fish - white with orange and black spots, orange with black spots, black with white and orange spots.
A quartet of large, round lily pads with short vertical walls (making them resemble some tart pans or deep dish pizza pans) float in a reflective pond, surrounded by other (smaller) varieties of water lilies - round heart-shaped, and some that themselves resemble flowers with lots of green "petals". At the 1 and 2 o'clock positions of the lower right most pad (also the smallest of the four) are two flower buds in varying states of bloom.
Closeup of a lily pond: On the right is a large, round lily pad with short vertical sides, making it resemble a tart pan. There are water drops all over it. The support veins on the outside look like pink Ys and Vs, with tiny little spiky hairs on them. On the far side of the lily pad, they can be seen silhouetted through the side. To its left is an opening white bloom (probably about the size of a softball or large grapefruit) with many petals is opening. Behind them is a little bit of open water, its smooth surface reflecting the greenhouse roof above. There are also some other (smaller) varieties of water lilies - the traditional heart-shaped, as well as some with a lot of leaves.

The outside of this wall is covered in Y-shaped support veins that branch off into smaller Ys and which are covered in little spiky hairs. In front of it is a smaller variety of water lily with several heart-shaped light green leaves (making it look like a flower). The reflection of both is perfectly mirrored in the still surface of the water.

Each blossom lasts only a day. It starts out white, fades to pink, and then closes.
