“The Matrix” has been one of the most impactful films of my lifetime, and was created by two #transgender women, Lana and Lily Wachowski.

In multiple interviews they have stated that the movie is intended to be a #trans allegory, with the red and blue pills representing the choice to transition versus the choice to go into denial, with the subway scene referencing Lana’s own brush with suicide and so on

Here is an interview where Lily talks about #thematrix as a trans allegory in her own words.

For #transdayofvisibility today I have called on and continue to call on trans people everywhere to reclaim the idea of the red pill, which has been appropriated from us, by sharing our history to the #redpill hashtag.

Led the red pill again represent the idea of choosing authenticity and self discovery in the face of fear.

Let us defy erasure by telling our stories.

"In the early 4th century BCE, the legendary ancient Greek philosopher Plato put forth a simple thought experiment. Known as the Allegory of the Cave, the idea suggests that what we believe to be 'reality' could be little more than shadows dancing upon a cave wall. Fast forward to the 21st century, and scientists are pondering the same question albeit in a more technological context."

Popular Mechanics · A Scientist Thinks We Live in a Simulation—and That He’s Found Proof of the Universe’s Source CodeBy Darren Orf

I'm struggling my way through season 4 of #WestWorld which is a real cut-rate version of #TheMatrix, on a par with season 3 which was their cut-rate version of #BladeRunner. And I'm wondering why they bothered ripping off other, better films after making a really good job of actual WestWorld in season 1 & a passable attempt at #Memento in season 2. 🤔
Lack of confidence in their own abilities or the original material/concept? Distractibility? Did they lose the rights to everything but the name?
