New blog post time!

Core Design July continues with BC Racers, the final game in the Chuck Rock Saga. Even when it's frustrating to play, I do appreciate that this isn't "just another kart racer".

I also spend time digging into the Chuck Rock Cinematic Universe because I just can't help myself:

Ephemeral Enigmas · BC RacersBC Racers is quite a roller coaster for me. The overall consensus is that the game is, as the kids say, thoroughly mid. I don’t really disagree, and heck, I’d argue some aspects are flat out bad, b…

This week's game is Wolfchild, the action platformer by Core Design that has you taming both man and beast to stay alive.

On the surface, it looks standard fare, but give it time and you'll find a game loaded with nuance and secrets. I was kind of obsessed with it for a week!

2. Another noticeable difference is that the Sega CD version tells you to "PRESS START" to begin the game. The Monkey Island has been moved to accommodate that, which I think slightly hurts the composition of the scene.

The intro doesn't even proceed to the lookout scene on its own. It just loops. When that happens, the music cuts off pretty awkwardly. That could be a ScummVM issue, but it was awkward when I tried it in an emulator too.

1. About a month ago, I picked up a second-hand copy of The Secret of Monkey Island for the Sega CD. But I haven't sat down and played it yet. Time to fix that. I want to see how it differs from the other versions I've encountered.

There will be spoilers. You have been warned.

Right away, it uses a different Lucasfilm logo than the DOS version. In fact, I think it's the same one as the Amiga version uses, but I don't have that one.
