"By 2030, Coca-Cola products will account for an estimated 1.33 billion pounds (602,000 metric tonnes) of plastic waste entering the world's oceans and waterways each year, according to a stark new analysis published Wednesday by the nonprofit Oceana.

That's enough plastic to fill the stomachs of 18 million whales."

Nestle is the ultimate capitalist predator.
" Indonesia, already the world’s largest palm oil exporter, is now breaking ground in West Papua on the world’s biggest single palm oil plantation, as well as a sugar cane and biofuel plantation that will be the largest deforestation project ever launched."

70% of the world's gum arabic which is a key ingredient in soft drinks and confectionery comes from #Sudan. Suppliers are being looted, extorted or having fees for export imposed by armed groups in the genocidal war in the country. It makes me feel somewhat better when I see all these boycotts, and realize that, with a few notable exceptions (amazon was a hard one) I don't really buy many of the products anyway, so my boycott is meaningless. I recently saw a #nestle #boycott and the wide expanse of brands they control and was happy to note that none of them are in my house or regular consumption routine. =)

To boycott as a means of political voice is powerful.
To be able to work outside the domain of the corporations being boycotted is a privilege I am grateful for and work hard to maintain.
