"In a #ComicCon panel, Mark S. Zaid, Esq. (Overstreet #ComicBook Price Guide advisor; comic book historian, author, GI’s Rabbi) presented a PowerPoint on “The #Jewish Experience in #Comics: Characters and Creators.”

This lecture on Thursday, July 24, explored how the Jewish identity of iconic comics creators influenced their storylines and arcs. Many of these characters from #DCComics, #MarvelComics and #MadMagazine had fascinating personal backstories of the creators who seamlessly wove their cultural identity into their work."

I am terminally into reading strange crossovers and horror genre nonsense, so I read Hickman's Aliens vs Avengers comics run, which was a fun little four issue multiverse shot. very in line for both properties, with more than a hint of the "Old Man ___" thing on the Avengers side

<3 the one page with Apocalypse mentioned. tangentially, the line "I am the rocks of the eternal shore. Crash against me and be broken!" from the 90s cartoon lives rent-free in my head forever

I had fun at Marvel's Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. I started reading the wall-crawler’s comics at nine years old, and kept up with my favorite superhero for decades afterwards. Exploring the displays and learning interesting things about Spidey’s history that I never knew (or forgot) was a real treat. For example, two months before Peter Parker made his costumed debut in Amazing Fantasy #15, his Aunt May and Uncle Ben technically appeared first in Strange Tales #97—with a niece named Linda. The exhibit covered everything from the comics to the live-action movies to Sony Pictures’ ongoing Spider-Verse franchise. At one point, I even caught Spider-Woman taking my picture. 🕷️
