My camera shoots fascists<p>My desert iguana buddy this morning. It's shy. I think it'll really warm up to me once I have live mealworms. </p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/herps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>herps</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lizard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/iguana" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iguana</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/LizardReport" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LizardReport</span></a></p>
Anthony Horton<p>When Jerry is out of his enclosure pretty much the only thing that will stop him constantly trying to wander off to find a nook and/or cranny to hide in is his fleece guinea pig bed. He will, sometimes, just hang out in there, and he may even accept some chin scritches while he's doing so.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/LizardPosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LizardPosting</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/SkinksOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SkinksOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/LizardsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LizardsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/BlueTongueSkink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueTongueSkink</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/BlueTongueLizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueTongueLizard</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Skink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Skink</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lizard</span></a></p>
My camera shoots fascists<p>This morning, the big guy returned to his place on the wall, but I couldn't get near him. I threw a bunch of dried mealworms out there but I think the birds got them before he came back.</p><p>This smol fren, who lives on the other wall, came right up and chowed them from my hand. </p><p>It originally seemed like the small ones were more skittish likely, I assumed, because they are prey for virtually everything. But now with a larger sample size, that hasn't been the case.</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lizard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Lizards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lizards</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SmolFren" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SmolFren</span></a></p>
My camera shoots fascists<p>Just after I posted this, I looked outside and a big fat Desert Spiny lizard (Sceloporus genus, probably S. magister) was sitting on the wall. I've got it eating dried mealworms from about 4 feet away, but hasn't taken any from my hand yet. These seem to be the easiest ones to tame.</p><p>This is the same species as Bill and Harriet, and about the same size as Bill, but it's not him. </p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lizard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Herps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Herps</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Herpetology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Herpetology</span></a></p>

OmilenAmazing nature.<br> The slender lizard (Liolaemus tenuis) is one of the most common reptiles in Chile. jojojo<p>A year ago today, on my 50th birthday, I embarked on an endeavor to draw every day for a year. I did it. I only missed a few days, when I was really sick and one time when I was camping. I wanted to do this because I know I am most productive when I’m held accountable, even if the accountability I feel from others is an illusion (I know none of you all would be mad at me if I missed some days!) I also wanted to push myself to be free with my drawings, less precious, looser. I wanted to see how my digital drawing style would change if I really stuck to it. I wanted to learn what I really loved drawing, rather than what I thought I should draw. I wanted to get more vulnerable with my drawings and push myself to share them, even if I wasn’t sure I wanted to. I wanted to see how my activist work would show up in my drawings. (That last one is still not happening enough to my satisfaction and I want to keep working on that.)</p><p>I’m not sure I can keep up another <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/draweveryday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>draweveryday</span></a> streak for another year. I also write music and poetry and that has kinda fallen to the wayside, so I might want to focus on that this year. Then again, my brain sure does cling to a routine, so… so here’s a lizard! I’m going to try to let myself have some days off and be less rigid with it, but I think you can expect more <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/drawalmosteveryday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drawalmosteveryday</span></a> posts. </p><p>Day 1 of year 51. <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/drawing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>drawing</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wildlife</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lizard</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/draw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>draw</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/birthday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birthday</span></a></p>

Swede’s Photographs<p>Good morning. 🍁🌑☕</p><p>5 April 2025</p><p>A couple of days ago, I spotted a coal skink (Plestiodon anthracinus) slithering around in my office. It darted under and between the books piled beside my bookcase, prompting me to search behind the books, a small chest, and my shredder to locate the intruder. I managed to grab it with my right hand, but it escaped by slipping through my grip and likely took refuge behind the bookcase. With two heavy desks and the bookcase in my office, I wasn't willing to rearrange everything just to chase down a small lizard. I would have gladly taken it outside, where its survival prospects would be far better than in my cluttered office. On the bright side, the encounter motivated me to organize my bookcase, turning the pile of books next to it into a neatly arranged collection.</p><p>"Back off or the lizard gets it!" - Ryan Stiles</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/morning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>morning</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/leaf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>leaf</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/light" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>light</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lizard</span></a></p>
