It's why one sees urban #firefighters donning breathing apparatus. #Wildlands adjacent to the Los Angeles basin also contain #mercury and #lead in #soil and litter layers, deposited over many years from #air #pollution generated by vehicles and industries. #Wildfires often emit these heavy metals.

None of them knew each other, but the three others formed an instant opinion of the fourth, a guy who walked with his shoulders thrown back and his chin lifted, as if he could hear an adoring audience cheering. He was the one who pushed on the glowing doors of the edifice they all came to consciousness in front of.

The doors opened inward.

"I'll ; you follow," the guy said. The other three glanced at each other.

"You're not the boss of us, actually," one said.

Kiki's vigil for Tim.
Tav's vigil for Kiki.

When they reached the Grand Hotel, grooms ran out to take charge of the horses and them away while attendants unstrapped and unloaded the luggage from the coach. Curtains stepped down from the box and opened the door to the coach.
"We have arrived, Milady," he said. "And you are now safe. I must now return with my men."
He extended a hand to assist her down from the coach.
"Thank you, Milord, for your concern," she said, taking his hand and stepping down.

It was issued in May 1964 as the B-side of "#IGetAround", and charted separately at No. 24 on the #Billboard #Hot100.

Why was the ‘hunting’ Lobby appeased with a voluntary elimination of lead in shot? Even now, years after they promised to eliminate it for killing waterfowl it is still in common use. And as for its use on land…

Ban it. Ban its sale, use and import - they will never do this voluntarily.

"You must spin these pipes into gold by sunset," the king declared. "If you don't, it's OFF WITH YOUR HEAD."

"Hold up," Arugula said. "Didn't my dad say I could spin *straw* into gold? That's his typical boast."

The king's brow wrinkled. "He might have. We were both pretty drunk."

"Well, for tasks like lead into gold, you need an alchemist, not a miller's daughter. So if you'll just excuse me..." And she beat a hasty retreat, leaving the king surrounded by pipes.

Curtiss looked at him curiously. "I was trying to by example."
Sergeant Baker rolled his eyes & genuinely laughed for a moment. Then he got deadly serious.
"You can't do that, Boy. You have to take command. You have to give the men orders."
Curtiss looked down. "But…"
"But nothing! You've got good instincts. Those instincts will save your men someday. But only if you tell 'em what to do. Understood?"
"Yes, Sergeant," Curtiss said. "Thank you, Sergeant."
"Now get outta my office!"
