Hey Mastodon! I recently moved my account to aus.social, so now seems like a good time to write the #introduction post that I've been meaning to get around to.

I'm Liam, a 16 year old high school student in Australia who decided "hey, why not?" when thinking about Mastodon late one night in January this year. I've previously had an account on Lemmy, but my instance shut down and I didn't bother to set up another one. Mastodon is a little different to the forums I'm used to!

Cześć! Jestem Łukasz. Trójka z przodu. Warszawa. Na fedi mniej-więcej od 2021 r. Łączę dwa konta w jedno i od tej pory będzie tu więcej polskojęzycznych postów (a jeśli obserwowałxś mnie na polskojęzycznym koncie, to dostaniesz więcej treści po angielsku ).

Mam kilka równoległych żyć.

Przez większość czasu buduję rzeczy w internetach, głównie z użyciem TypeScriptu, Reacta i całej reszty tego jazzu. Ciągle jednak lubię generatory stron statycznych i stary dobry HTML/CSS.

W innym życiu jestem fotografem-dokumentalistą i fotoreporterem. Interesuje mnie aktywizm, sztuka, kultura, polityka oraz wszystko, co jest ciekawe, a dzieje się na ulicach miast. Dużo uwagi poświęcam protestom i demonstracjom w Polsce, zwłaszcza dotyczącym praw człowieka i kwestii społecznych. Interesuje mnie też sztuka uliczna, zwłaszcza taka, która niesie ze sobą mocne komunikaty.

Zdarza mi się blogować i tłumaczyć teksty. Wiele lat temu napisałem dwie książki o WordPressie. Obecnie jednak wolę gdzieś wyjść niż spędzać jeszcze więcej czasu przed ekranem.

Okazjonalnie zdarza mi się postować o zdrowiu psychicznym i polityce. Staram się używać CW kiedy to możliwe.

Postuję po polsku i angielsku w zależności od tematu.

Hello! I’m Łukasz. Thirty-something, living in Warsaw, Poland. On fedi since 2021 or so. Right now, I'm merging my two accounts into one and giving this profile a fresh new start.

I live a few parallel lives.

Most of the time I’m a web developer. I work with TypeScript, React and all that jazz. But I still enjoy static site generators and good ol’ HTML/CSS.

In another life, I’m a documentary photographer and photojournalist. I’m interested in activism, art and culture, politics, and pretty much anything interesting happening on city streets. A big part of my photography journey involves documenting protests and demonstrations in Poland, especially those related to human rights and social issues. I’m also drawn to street art, particularly when it carries strong messages.

I occasionally blog and translate. Many years ago I wrote two books about WordPress. However, these days I’m more likely to go outside and touch grass than spend even more time in front of a screen.

Outside of that, expect me to post about mental health and politics. I promise to use CWs when appropriate.

I post in both English and Polish, depending on the topic.

I like coffee, tea, wine, cooking, classic literature, nature and historical documentaries, old BBC radio shows, gardening, hot weather, relaxing in the pool, and playing cards and dice. I love opera and operettas, particularly singers from the 1940's and earlier. In classical music, I like Baroque through early Romantic. I prefer antique menswear (usually Edwardian) and accessories. I love wit, wordplay, and dry humour without vulgarity, though I do enjoy adult fun. I am happily childfree and am not religious. I also have no interest in politics or world affairs. I have been totally blind since I was two months old, due to Retinopathy of Prematurity.

I am a self taught programmer in mostly just #nodejs & #java right now but historically I have written code in #perl #php #python #tcl and just a little bit of #csharp #cpp and a very little bit of #C & #visualbasic .
In the past I have written a lot about offensive security, however after a years long hiatus I have shifted focus over to defensive security in regards to operating a #minecraft server, or network, which I write about on my #blog at https://www.xnite.me/ .
I actively develop and operate a Minecraft server database at https://www.breakblocks.com/ which has an active community of almost 1,300 members on #Discord at the time of this post.

I meant to write this introduction sooner but life sucker punched me in the face.. I'm not down for the count yet though!
