Page 1 features the most #GregEgan quote ever: "The number of parallel worlds is uncountably infinite - infinite like the real numbers, not merely like the integers". This 1995 collection is significantly earlier work than the other Egan collection I own (Oceanic), and I must admit I prefer the ultra far future Amalgam universe approach of his more recent stories, but this is still a very solid collection. @bookstodon #Bookstodon #SciFi

📖 Going to Church in Medieval England by Nicholas Orme

Orme admirably covered his huge topic. I learned so much. The book was beautifully designed by Yale University Press.

English Christianity in the mediaeval period has become a major fascination of mine. I asked Tudor historian Norman Jones for a recommendation and I'm so glad he suggested this.

The Void - Dark sci-fi space opera.

Inspector Lin Mei:

Smart, analytical and driven, Mei is a judiciary criminal investigator that gets caught up with corporate politics but makes an unusual ally in one of them: Yiu Quon.

They share a common purpose, but where Mei likes to see justice be done, Quon likes to pursue a more Machiavellian approach. Can she ever trust someone like him?

It's #SundayFunday so let's play a little game. The last thing you ate is what you'll give to a werewolf so he doesn't eat you 😅 What is it?

Speaking of werewolves, I have a complete werewolf romance series called Moonlight Rogues. It's available in Kindle Unlimited, and you can see the main trope list on this pic😊

@RunalongWomble Howdy, Womble. I am just starting You Glow in the Dark, a short story collection by Bolivian scribe Liliana Colonzi (translated by Chris Andrew), coming in October from AKoya Press

Apparently it garnered a mention on Time's 100 books to read in 2024 list on its US release, so quite interested to have a look. Also, not often I read fiction from Bolivia, so another notch on my Global Reading Belt!

how to enable this outcome, you won't get them. Unless you need to be told to treat patients with respect and dignity, and to honor their choices.

She said, right in the closing chapter, that schizophrenia outcomes divide into thirds: healed, living with peace but not healed, and living with trauma and not healed (my words). I need to follow up on that, as this is news to me.

helpful for her isn't rocket science. It's, honestly, the basic common courtesy we would offer anyone not diagnosed with a mental disorder. And that makes it depressing. I think this book is a nice addition to the stories coming out that show the need for reform in our support of these patients, but it's not groundbreaking except that she considers herself healed of schizophrenia. #JustFinished A Road Back from Schizophrenia: A Memoir by Arnhild Lauveng

I have very mixed feelings about this book. It was a moving, intense memoir of someone who was deeply broken for a time in her life. And beautiful, hopeful message for those who are or know someone who is affected by psychosis. Lauveng is careful to be clear that this is her story and not a roadmap for everyone.

All this being said, much of what Lauveng talks about being
