If you are looking for high spice audiobooks, a good place to start in my catalogue is "Lockdown and Dirty" by Guy White.

If your cute roommate wanted to solve your laundry problems by making the apartment a no-clothes zone, what would you do?

Lockdown and Dirty is a high heat/slow-burn friends-to-lovers story about roommates too shy to make the first move. It's an erotic romance on the theme of active, enthusiastic consent. It's extremely hot, it's one of my most popular audibooks, and Guy and I won an audiobook award for it.

If you like "wholesome but also inexplicably hot" stories, this one is for you.

If you have never listened to my audiobooks before and don't know where to start, allow me to recommend The Giantess Slave by Amber Collins.

A female mad scientist kidnaps two party girls to create the ultimate instrument of her revenge: a 200-foot tall woman!

It's a scifi story with a light sapphic vibe that's the lowest heat of all my books -- it's far more suggestive than explicit and barely registers as PG-13.

It's also as campy as a 1950's drive-in movie.

And I had more fun than I know how to tell you doing the sexy mad scientist voice!

Bonus: for reasons I absolutely do not understand, several listeners have told me that they love to listen to this book to fall asleep to. Maybe my MILF-y Mad Scientist voice is soporific?

It's available through Amazon, Audible and Apple Books. You can hear a quick free sample in any of the listings!

I've finished: The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang

According to the title, I was expecting this novel to be about the Opium War between Britain and China. But it is about a very different war.

While a bit clunky at times and very tropy, I really enjoyed following Rin's journey.

I appreciate Kuang's depiction of the horrors of war and their effect on all those involved.
The Good vs. Evil heroic fantasy trope is one significant convention she departs from.

That's Done: I CANCELLED AUDIBLE

I've been an #Audiobook listener for 20+ years, mostly because I'm in the car a lot and having kids kills your brain for reading at night. I had over 500 books in my #Audible library but it's time to go.

Doing business with #JeffBezos has just become too unpalatable. That and @pluralistic has taught me to reject DRM and he helped me find Libro.fm - I signed up for a membership and have already bought and pre-ordered 6 new books over there.

Good night! #3GoodThings
1. Downloaded a couple Braille books today because I have so few and need more. 🤣📚
2. Listened to more of one of the true crime audio books I added to my wish list on Monday. Not much more to go and it will be finished.
3. Hubs managed to get outside and cut up a limb that fell from one of our trees. He came in often and drank lots of Gatorade to keep himself hydrated.

Middle brother and sis-in-law are doing as well as they can after losing their dog. But he is no longer in pain and that gives them comfort.
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Braille #AudioBook

Have been listening to #AndySerkis' audio book reading of #TheLordOfTheRings which is apparently #free on archive.org. His performance is spirited, though a little uneven in spots, and his singing is just fair. His voicing choices sound inspired by the actors in the Peter Jackson films (AS mimics Sean Bean's #Boromir, Sir Ian McKellen's #Gandalf, etc.). It is also a little odd overall since it is a bit like #Gollum reading #JRRTolkien's translation of The Red Book of Westmarch to me. Overall though, nicely done. I still love Tolkien's word craft of prose, poem, character and plot. archive.org/details/4.01.-appe

My #audiobook for the last couple of weeks of commuting has been More Everything Forever by Adam Becker. It’s a point-by-point takedown of the entire TESCREAL worldview, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a compact, well-reasoned explanation of what the fuck is going on with AI, space colonisation, and billionaires.

If you’re terminally online, you have probably heard all the arguments before, but it’s nice to have them collected, and to have something to give to normal people when they ask who Curtis Yarvin is and why they should be concerned.

Hachette Book Group · More Everything ForeverThis "wild and utterly engaging narrative" (Melanie Mitchell) shows why Silicon Valley’s heartless, baseless, and foolish obsessions—with escaping death,...

I'm listening to #audiobook Declare by Tim Powers for the second time. I bought this book some years ago and am getting more out of it the second time around. The story jumps back and forth between now (1960s) and the protagonist's history from childhood through WWII and the Cold War. It's about a spy who was groomed for an operation called Declare, evidently from even before his birth, which may have some supernatural aspect. I won't say what Declare is trying to accomplish, as it takes a good while in the story before the reader really gets a sense of it. The narration on this audiobook is so, so good and the story is so well written. If you like alternate histories, spy vs. spy novels, and supernatural mysteries, I think you'll love this book. This is a rare ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ book. #bookstodon
