A male Mallard, preening, and standing in shallow water. The duck has its head turned round to its left so its brown neck is to the left of the frame. Lighter underparts and orange leg and foot visible. Its head is iridescnet green, with a white ring seperating it from the brown neck. Dark rear end. Green refelctions in the top of the frame and duck reflections in the foreground.

I don't think I've ever seen a more floofed Snowy Egret! #Birds #Photography #BirdPhotography #FujiFilm #XT5. It was a bit breezy today. I'll post one of it shaking this out later.

A Snowy Egret, all feathers puffed out, or floofed. A small-medium sized white bird with long dark legs, with yellow backs, just seeing a flash of the yellow on its right leg. It also has a long dark bill and yellow between the eyes and around he dark pupils. This one is standing in long grass, angled and looking to the left of the camera. Overcast, no strong shadows.

A view of Peyto lake, a very blue looking lake set amongst green trees and mountains. The mountains have snow patches on some of the sheltered spots and the different bands of rocks can be seen, with a slight angle rising left to right of the montain on the left behind the lake. A Green Heron, a small heron with a dark crown which is standing on end, like the Beaker character from the Muppets. Its neck is stretched out upwards and a orange-brown colour. Front is lighter grey and back is darker blue-grey. Standing on rocks next to water, brambles dangling into the water too.

A Northern Mockingbird, singing in the new day! #Birds #Photography #BirdPhotography #FujiFilm #XT5. And my sensor wasn't dirty - insects out of focus causing the sensor-dust look.

A Northern Mockingbird, perched atop a tree and singing, with the early dawn light shining on it.It is a small-medium sized bird with a longish tail. The warm light just after sunrise making it look a little brown rather than grey. Light chest and darker back and wings. Yellow-brown ring around black pupil which is catching the sun. Blue sky in the background, and some patches that look like sensor dust but were in fact insects around the bird.

A California Quail, a small medium bird walking on grass and weeds on the edge of a path. It has a distinctive plume above the eye, looks like a fancy hat. The cap is brown, then a white ring above the eyes, and a matching chin-strap - darker brownblack under the bill. Above the bill and between the eyes looks like an upside down grey-brown moustache. The chest is grey, the back of the neck grey too, but more feather patterned, the wings and side brown, with lighter bands down the side. The chest is light and dard brown feather shapes. So many textures in one bird!
