Watching #StarTrekSNW 'The Elysium Kingdom', and I'm stuck between annoyance at Mbenga's natural dignity being offended by the silly costumes, and delight at Pike's (or perhaps Anson Mount's) full-throated embrace of the goofiness of it all.
Oh #StarTrekSNW is doing The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, I see.

Don’t know why people get concerned with inconsistency of uniforms in Star Trek.
The US Navy has, for officers,
Dress uniforms in increasing formality: Service dress blue, service dress white, full dress blue, full dress white, mess dress blue, mess dress white, mess dress (both) with alt cutaway jacket.
Practical day officers’ uniforms: Service khaki, service summer white. Blue coverall, esp. in sub service.
12. And that’s after “review” to simplify.
