As kids this was one of our favorite herbs (Western Europe), when you get stung by stinging nettles or bitten by ants, rubbing the bruised leaves of this herb on the irritated skin soothes the pain. https://www.botanischetuinen.nl/nl/plant/643/hondsdraf (Dutch) https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/8034/glechoma-hederacea/details. Maianthemum dilatatum grows in beautiful carpets across the forest floor in our region, and they've finally started cropping up this spring.

This plant is often called "False Lily of the Valley" or "Western Lily of the Valley", named by settlers in reference to a vaguely similar European plant. This kind of common name is a small reminder of the colonial perspectives that shaped the formation of modern North American society.

Учора на лекції з електрохімії професор спокійно каже: «Платинові катоди можна використовувати, щоб срібло з фіксажу збирати після проявлення плівки».
А потім, ніби між іншим: «Я ж сподіваюся, ніхто зараз на плівку не знімає… бо в нас якось зникли всі електроди. Єдиний, хто тоді пішов на пенсію, професор, який фотографією захоплювався»…

А я що, я мовчу 🤣
