If we needed more proof that the so-called #centerleft or #rationalleft is very permeable to #extremeright #ideologies, the way the #newyorktimes dealt with informations about #ZohranMamdani college registration coming from #neonazi sources and #hacking is a pretty blunt one. They completely obliterated the fact that these guys have their hands on sensible #data from millions of people, including #poc ! Thanks to @rebeccawatson for this video!

_A Premonition about the Unregulated Industrial Futures_

My sleeping mind last night conjured up a picture of the future that was incredibly bleak for humans.

I was standing in line to get on a passenger bus. But this was no regular bus, it was a semi-truck sized industrial bus, and it contained many seats crowded together. Some faceless person near me commented that while the busses _were_ getting bigger, the seats on the busses poor people were using were shrinking in size. But airplane seats in commercial jets were getting bigger to accommodate the bigger asses of the rich.

And my seat was small. It was crowded very close to another seat, maybe 4 seats across and one facing sideways on one side of the aisle, and mine was beside the one facing sideways.

The bus driver carefully checked each ticket, which for some reason looked like those tickets people use in raffles, and told the boarding passenger to go sit in the seat number with the last 2 digits on it. My seat had a plaque on it "Donated by the (something something) Youth, Class of '17): "Speaking for the Youth".

Probably an artefact of Drumpf's first presidency.

All around me, PoC on the bus were getting on and looking out the window which was about as high off the road as you'd expect being in an 18 wheeler that had been converted to bus.

After the bus started moving, I could see out the window on the other side of the aisle (no window seat where i was) that the bus route was paralleling train tracks.

An indeterminable time later, I'm standing in line with some people who are buying backpack-sized metal containers of what I understood to be gas or fuel. The people would get their petrol wrapped in a metal container and carry it back to the bus.

One person' who had just exited a church (don't ask me how I knew this in my dream)... this person was handed a petrol backpack leaking fire (kind of like how a natural gas stove makes that flame). And we griped in an annoyed way, as if this was a common happening for these backpacks.

We extinguished the leaking flames and proceeded back toward the bus.

But, way across the way, where the train tracks were, a very dark black plume of black black smoke rose. As I got closer to the train tracks, I could see rail cars passing by slowly, like total chaos and disorder... one train cart had industrial poisons beside one carrying produce beside one carrying someone trying to use a rail car as a food truck, hoping to sell to the throngs of people.

The black smoke had come from one of the industrial cars, and at that moment, I understood we were in Ohio. Someone had commented about how Ohio had jumped on the deregulation train first, because it was a Red state, and that the industrial mfgs could basically do whatever they wanted, they weren't regulated any more.

And so there were chemical spills everywhere, stacks of black smoke, people trying to consume food beside hazardous waste poisons, and a general bleak and sickly feeling of grief and impending doom.

2-3 years ago, I'd watched only the first few minutes of Mad Max before deciding it wasn't something i wanted to waste hours of my life on, but the dream atmosphere was kind of like that.

Virilization Fans or VFans for short is a brand-new instance for transmasculine people and allies.
Registrations are open, so please feel free to apply for an account here.

What can you expect from us?

  • VFans does its best to moderate the server from any unwanted content, especially from bigotry towards transmasc people and POC, as those are demographics often neglected by wider Fediverse.
  • The instance is co-owned by an Indigenous person and is hosted outside of US and UK jurisdictions (therefore we will not be affected by their legislation)
  • As the server uses Akkoma software, you are free to customize the theme of the default front-end (including fonts) to accomodate your disabilities when using our instance.
  • We do balance our moderation actions and try not to apply complete defederations unless severe rule violations occur and the remote admins repeatedly refuse to moderate their user(s), and instead opt for limiting the instance or suspending individual users
  • We blocked Threads on our instance!

Anything else
If you need help, have questions or feedback, feel free to DM this account. Please do not reach out to individual staff accounts about moderation issues. That allows all of VFans staff to chime in to the conversation and/or pass through if necessary.

#Franklin is an essential character in the world of Charlie Brown. Perhaps one should look more closely at the illustration. Maybe it represents the isolation of what racism looks like. Times were different, and it was brave and progressive of Schulz to create him. Let’s continue acknowledging the wrongs and focusing on improving.
Nowadays, they say "don't draw a character that is trans". Their bigotry just changed colors.

Momodou Taal, a Persecuted Pro-Palestine Activist at Cornell, on Black and Palestinian Solidarity

beehaw.org/post/20862166

beehaw.orgMomodou Taal, a Persecuted Pro-Palestine Activist at Cornell, on Black and Palestinian Solidarity - Beehaw> The U.S. student movement in solidarity with Palestine is facing ferocious repression as the Trump administration revokes student visas en masse. Masked federal agents roam around looking to snatch students and faculty off the streets and send them to jail for their activism, including their mere beliefs. One of the students targeted is Momodou Taal, a graduate student at Cornell University who led pro-Palestine activism there and was suspended twice by the university. A dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the Gambia, he joined another graduate student and a faculty member in suing the Trump administration for allegedly violating their First and Fifth Amendment rights by punishing speech and quashing political dissent. On March 21, Taal’s lawyers were notified that the State Department had revoked Taal’s student visa after Immigration and Customs Enforcement condemned his “disruptive action” and ICE requested that he turn himself in. Instead, Taal left the country on his own terms, “free” and with his “head held high,” and continues his struggle on behalf of a free Palestine, upholding the Pan-Africanist tradition. > > Taal and Hammer & Hope editor Olúfẹ́mi O. And just like that, Muslims are the GOP's monster du jour.

Black [People]. Women. Immigrants. Queer people. Liberals. Muslims. They are at war with [everyone].

[Everyone]? Not yet. Soon.

That is how they exist - by making up enemies to hate and fear.
If rational thought came along, brains would explode.
