💝 Systems Hardware Friday 💝

Yet another afternoon stroll on over to the storage unit, locating spares and system parts from former projects. These will be allocated to three systems in my homelab (the rack at home this time):

1. Raptor Talos II box, needs a pair of Optane NVMe boot drives ✔️
2. Supermicro, EPYC Zen4, an additional Nvidia GPU for CUDA meta-port dev ✔️
3. Supermicro, E3/v6 Xeon, a second QAT 8960 for OpenZFS + OpenSSL comp/decomp/crypto offload ✔️
~. Napatech 4x10G SmartNIC, this is for my TRex load generators, so it's going to the colo ✔️

Should be a relaxing evening, mostly focused on the installs, and maybe some project planning too.

mit diesem Tröt steht meine alte Zotac RTX 4090 Extreme offiziell zum Verkauf😃

Die Karte lief ausschließlich mit Stock Werten sprich ich habe sie weder Undervoltet noch Overclocked.

Ich verkaufe sie mit original Karton, originalen 8Pin auf 12VHWPR Adapter und GPU Halterung.
Ein natives 12VHWPR Kabel gehört nicht zum Lieferumfang.
Wichtig: Die Karte besitzt die erste Gen des PCIe 5 16Pin Anschlusses und nicht die zweite Gen (aka 12V-2x6).

Not too surprising since the latest NVidia generations with their performance uplift hasn't been that great. Basically a 4070 is basically a 4060 and a 4060 is a 4050. It feels like a ripoff.

May as well just get that Switch 2 or a PS5, a good value GPU is basically the price of the PC, and it doesn't include the rest of the computer.

So ich habe die Karte mittlerweile eingebaut, mich ein wenig mit dem Softwaretool namens GPU Tweak beschäftigt und ein wenig GTA 5 Enhanced weitergezockt.

Insgesamt bin ich zufrieden. Was mir allerdings aufgefallen ist: Primär im Desktopbetrieb hat sie ein auffälliges Spulenfiepen.
Meine alte Zotac hatte das nicht. Da ich allerdings auf meinem Gaming PC nie lange auf dem Desktop unterwegs bin und mit Kopfhörer spiele, fällt dieser Makel für mich nicht ins Gewicht.

Ich dachte 2022 schon bei meiner alten Karte "Was für ein Brummer".
Aber die Astral ist allein durch den massiven Metallrahmen noch noch krasser😁
Und ja ich liebe es gerade einfach mit der Hand immer wieder über dieses Stück Technik zu streicheln.

Die Dimensionen kommen auf Foto leider nicht so richtig rüber😥
