@MorpheusB Great piece. It’s not just about obscene wealth — it’s about power, emissions, and influence. A handful of billionaires shape policy, hoard resources, and drive climate destruction (think of Murdoch, Rinehart, palmer etc in Aus) while pretending to be the solution. The planet can't afford this inequality any longer.

Many sports have become dominated the privately educated (not least due to political attrition against school sports provision), but as the Sutton Trust points out this is less the case for football (even if the men's game still has a disproportionate number of privately equated players, perhaps surprisingly).

For sport-loving women from state schools currently women's football looks like a good bet for a career in sports!

(7% of children attend private school)

Solving the “Crisis of Men” Requires Tackling Inequality

> Working-class men in the US have fallen behind women on a number of indicators of well-being. This is not due to a battle of the sexes, but because decades of growing inequality and precarity have had differential impacts on men and women.

So what do we do to the weak
but punish them because
the powerful we know escape
and our rage needs somewhere to land

and so I fear the immigrant, the faggot, and the tranny
and ask the mighty crooks above
if you’re all crooked, then be crooked for me!

and all I can see
is a zero sum game
and I must pick the enemy I can overcome
and fight with all I have
for I myself am hungry and poor
and I won’t lose this one too
and emerging victorious
I will at least know in some things
with sufficient help
I can overcome.

and hope to add their scraps from the table
to the meager count of my own.
and hope to find a simple peace
where wealth accompanies me
and love finds me
and all my hate
is seen as wisdom
and all my fear
is seen as prudence
and all my evil
is acknowledge
as righteous anger
and I may be redeemed

Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central/West and chair of parliament’s Science, Innovation & Technology select committee is merely the latest to argue that the UK's long-term economic malaise is a direct result of the economic concentration in London & the SE.

As she says: If the SE's ' parochialism is left undisturbed we will remain two countries when it comes to productivity & output - suffering economic stagnation while staring at the solution'.
