An article at @statewatch describes how the #UK #MinistryOfJustice, the #HomeOffice and and the Greater #Manchester Police as well as the Metropolitan Police of #London are feeding personal data into a “homicide prediction” system.

Sensitive personal health data on issues like mental health, addiction, self-harm, suicide, vulnerability, and disability are processed, too.

In the #UK, between 100,000 and 500,00 people are currently affected. As usual, such "initiatives" are targeting people with no lobby, first.

Whatever pool of sensitive data has been created in your country, you can be sure that your government will grab it, and ultimately also weaponize it against you, sooner or later.

It is not really progress, but the Home Office a notoriously cavalier and badly run organisation (remember Windrush amongst others) needs to be held to public account. There is nothing they would like more than absolute secrecy, a cowed press and a frightened and subdued opopulation.

The eVisa scheme (UK) replaces physical documents with online proof of immigration status.

But technical and adminstrative problems mean that many people can't create or access the eVisa when they need it.

Thousands are currently having to rely on expired documents to prove their right to be in the UK.

This could easily be extended to all migrants that have the right to remain in the UK.

The eVisa scheme (UK) has proved chaotic.

Travellers stranded at airports, refugees unable to rent a home or get a job, and a man being made homeless – these are some of the horror stories we have heard since the Home Office’s eVisa scheme came into effect.

But there's a simple solution to this mess: allow physical proof of immigration status.

Until recently, migrants from outside the EU had physical documents to prove that they and their families could live, work or study in the UK. These could be physical cards or stamps or stickers in their passports. The Home Office planned to replace these physical documents with e-Visas by the end of December 2024. These plans failed and now millions of people are having to use expired documents to prove their right to be in the UK.

Another story of the compassion by-pass & lack of humanity at the Home Office.... a wrongly filled out form, which the Home Office did not advise the applicant of for six months renders a Polish grandmother with no legal status while living with her family (an now facing deportation).

And, guess what; no appeals when the form is filled out wrongly (in this case an online form when a paper form should have been submitted).

Der #Krieg in der #Ukraine kommt langsam wieder näher… gestern hat der Angriff auf #Dnipro nicht nur mindestens 4 Zivilisten getötet, viele verletzt, sondern für uns auch einen Ort mit vielen Erinnerungen zerstört. In einer Stadt, die bislang relativ wenig von Zerstörungen betroffen war. Der Hotel- und Restaurantkomplex #Bartolomeo direkt am Fluss #Dnipro gelegen, nur 5-10 Minuten Fußweg vom früheren Arbeitsplatz meiner Frau entfernt. Von hier aus habe ich damals öfters „#Homeoffice“ gemacht./2
