Johnny Cache<p>My <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>introduction</span></a> to <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Linux</span></a>.</p><p>I was blown away by the <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Battlezone" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Battlezone</span></a> clone <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/bz" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bz</span></a> on cool <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/SiliconGraphics" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SiliconGraphics</span></a> machines (with HUGE monitors) at university. That was my first indication that there was a world out there beyond <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/DOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DOS</span></a> and <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Windows</span></a>.</p><p>One day, I bought <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Caldera" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Caldera</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/OpenLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>OpenLinux</span></a> 2.2 from <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/FutureShop" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FutureShop</span></a>. And I could play <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/BZFlag" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BZFlag</span></a>! It was amazing - but something didn't work. Maybe sound? I forget.</p><p>Years later, I tried <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Mandrake" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Mandrake</span></a> 9.0. I used it solidly until I discovered <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/Ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Ubuntu</span></a>. The rest is history.</p>
