Saint Paul Minnesota It's a River Town There is no doubt about it, Saint Paul Minnesota is a river town and it gets its character and personality from the mighty Mississippi that runs through it. This image is from a recent outing with the "shudder to think" photography group. We were hoping and praying for a grand sunset but alas we were a little bit disappointed. But we were not too disappointed because we had an opportunity to spend some time with some good friends and time spent capturing wonderful images it's generally time well spent. Viewing St. Paul, Minnesota from the Robert Street Bridge offers a striking and memorable perspective of the city. As you stand on or cross the bridge, which spans the Mississippi River, you're greeted with a panoramic view that perfectly captures St. Paul’s blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty. Looking northwest from the bridge, the downtown skyline rises gracefully above the riverbanks, showcasing a mix of historic stone buildings, modern glass towers, and iconic landmarks like the First National Bank Building with its glowing red “1st” sign. The M48 #Severn #Bridge (or potentially both of them, I can't tell whether it is)! Taken over 20mi away in Standish Wood (near Randwick and Whiteshill, Stroud; roughly 290m altitude afaik) using a #GooglePixel 6 Pro. Edited in #AdobePhotoshop 2021.

I know the Cardiff one from Weston was far (~20km), but this definitely takes the impressive capabilities of this phone further. Sure, the image isn't high quality but I'm not bothered when it looks as beautiful as this.

Something interesting I learned about the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge that spans the Susquehanna River is that it’s been rebuilt several times, including after it was intentionally destroyed during the Civil War to prevent the Confederates from crossing over. The ruins of the pillars that supported the earlier bridge (once the longest covered bridge in the world) remain standing in the river, and can be seen in the photo.

I'm a bit fed up with tutorials today, so please: can anybody tell me what advantages a #bridge from #Mastodon to #Bluesky and one from #BSKY to Mastodon have? Do I need a bridge if I want to use mainly the Fediverse? Any disadvantages? (I know how to bridge.)
Update: Yeah, I bridged my Bsky account to the Fediverse. It took one day, now I get everything that I post on @naturematchcuts.bsky.social - but only my own posts, no other interactions from there. I can boost it then here.🧵
