Don't forget that Fox News originally used the slogan "Fair and Balanced" — dreamed up by network co-founder Roger Ailes, an earlier charlatan.

In retrospect, I suppose it was silly — and short-sighted — to believe that a public regulatory fed conspiracies and other drivel would not eventually put #antiscience conspiracists into power.

Shows how stupid and cruel this administration really is — can ignore science and reality but can't hide from it or stop it. Storms will grow more intense, oceans will rise, climate will warm, and viruses won't stop at borders or walls. MAGA minions will be misled by their lying leaders and suffer as much as — in some cases, more than — the rest of us.

We need to understand that going forward, if this sort of policy becomes common across journals, every edge case, every minor disagreement over a subtlety of a statistical technique, every misunderstanding that a reviewer *later reverses their opinion on* will now be part of what we have to deal with in the public discussion of science.

A discussion where the loudest voices on the anti-science side are often disingenuous from the start.
