America has structured itself so each generation has fewer people economically secure enough to spend time and energy thoughtfully considering topics of import.

It's not <insert scapegoats here> fault.

It's because we have to work more for less money.

We've chosen to shift more of the GDP towards return-on-capital and less towards labor; resulting in less wealth per hour of time spent; leaving people with less time and energy to invest in hard topics.
