Some are calling for CMU to not let police use its "predictive policing technology". Question... Why are my colleagues building "predictive policing technology" in the first place??

@darius you open a code block with "UrDoingGreatSweetie" and close it with "Love,Mom"

The fact that I haven't been promoting Ro's patreon and software development work on here is a major mistake on my part. Especially because I have seen him in action, working on a software development team with him.

You want him working on this project. I can vouch for his work myself.

The only downside is that if he can do it full time, I might not get to work with him on that other gig anymore.

Pitch in here if you can: patreon.com/Are0h

I should have done this months ago.

Folks who are upset about Rowling and need a new series about magical kids being sent to face threats that adults really should be the ones handling should check out Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor.

He is a well-meaning cis white union dude who has not trusted the police for a long time, but also has a lot of uninterrogated stuff around race, disability, and transphobia. Anything that uses the former to help with the latter would be especially welcome :)

My dad is retiring soon and I just sent him that huge itch.io bundle, but I don't know what to recommend for him. He likes late-90s Impressions city-builders, Descent, and 80s PC platformers. He also likes sci-fi and fantasy genre fiction, trains, and agitating against authoritarianism. Recs please?

Lovely birbsite thread where a museum curator explains that putting paint on bronze busts of racists is entirely harmless, but that β€œit would be a shame” if said bronzes were exposed to some common household products (like salted water, or tomatoes), causing them irreversible damage that grows over time.
wink wink, nudge nudge.

Everyone saying that pride month was cancelled, but it actually feels like the most genuine pride month in a long time.

If you're wanting to support Black film, you can start by watching "Rebelle", a short doc on a Black sex worker and activist.

No we don't get money from the views, but you can support our work by subscribing to my content or becoming a Patron of Rebelle and support Heaux History Project. An archival/docu project on Black sexworkers.

These sweethearts are keeping us grounded right now. Partner has gone hard into historical reproduction garment sewing and I've been taking apart all of my broken electronics, squinting at them, and breaking them further.

I'm body-positive.

I got the results today, they confirmed I have a body.
