#introduction hello! I'm new and trying out migrating here from Twitter.
I'm a queer Chinese Canadian SFF writer, poet, and Chinese-English translator.
If we know each other from Twitter, please feel free to say hi!
i'm going to be checking out some of the events at #FOLD2022 this week. I'm especially excited about the ones on writing short fiction and doing research for historical fiction, and also Carrianne Leung's interview with Matthew Salesses who wrote Craft in the Real World

One of the unexpected joys of the fediverse over other places is the addition of weird domains appended on to everyone's usernames.
It makes the web feel like more than just four websites again.
It's both a signal of a smaller more intimate internet and also a larger and far more diverse internet at the same time!
I am a story reviewer for Imagine 2200, a #climatefiction & #solarpunk contest seeking #sciencefiction stories that show a path to a clean, green, and just future. (Or just show what it's like to live in that future!)
Feel free to message me with any questions!

oh, fun, already dealing with white people whitesplaining to me in response to me commenting on how i'm hoping there would be more bipoc and non-english communities here because i miss those connections. we might as well get this out of the way now; if you have problem with that, please get out of my space lol
i'm enjoying being on mastodon so far, but i would like to follow more #bipoc writers and translators so please feel free to say hi!!
now i better get off social media and finish revising this short story i started at clarion west last year about a fantastical museum heist

So what kinds of writing do you do? What projects are folks working on?
I am revising a collection of SFF short stories at the moment. I also have an early draft of a fantasy novel that I should get back to but it is on hold I have more time and energy.
I also try to write poems and have my debut chapbook of translated modern and contemporary Chinese poetry forthcoming in the fall.
I have over 6k folks following me on Twitter so being on here is going to take some adjusting to. It is so comparatively quiet in comparison lol.
I am hoping there will be more familiar faces soon. I use Twitter for conversations, long threads, and community, especially with other queer BIPOC and with translation/Chinese lit Twitter. I also spend too much time thinking about cdramas and wuxia literature.
