I'm in.

Hello, Mastodon. Hello, Wandering Shop. Hello, strangers and soon-to-be online acquaintances.

Many thanks to @Alamantus for helping me set things up!

@wilfred Welcome!

Just FYI, people new to a Mastodon instance will often write a with their interests as hashtags that others might boost to help people find you. You can also search for that introduction hashtag to find others as well!

You can also view the Local timeline to see what others on just wandering shop are posting, or you can use Federated to get the fire hose of every post on every connected server... it's A Lot, though.

@wilfred Also be sure to check out the different Mastodon settings using the "Preferences" button. There's a 3-column view called the "advanced web interface" and some servers have multiple site themes to choose from.

Also now that you're here, you can explore alternative interfaces! One favorite is, which has several colorful themes and lets you toggle what notifications you receive, plus it's quite light on the computer's resources!

Ok, unsolicited advice done :)

@Alamantus Thanks for the helpful tips! I'll work on my introduction within the day. As for the interface, I did NOT know about that until you told me. I'll check it out as soon as I open my PC (currently using Tusky right now).

I've been exploring Local and Fed and I can't help but feel overwhelmed, but in a good way! I wish more people would use this service.
