I love all the different themed daily challenges that crop up at this time of year. Usually I do my own version by taking 31 toy photos that follow some kind of theme.

I was gonna do something with Re-Ment's Witch miniatures, but I missed Oct 1.

I did, however, take this pic.

I mean, a black cat is basically. Living Halloween decor, right??

So please, join me on a month-long chronicle of Licorice's Very Normal* Adventures.

*This better not come back to bite me in the ass

October 2nd: our kittens are now 8 months old, and they've been calming down quite a bit. I thought it might be safe to open the window shades and let them enjoy some sunlight.

I was wrong.

October 3: Licorice has friends on the other side...

it's me

i'm the friend

Licorice would like to be on my side of the door now

October 4: I bought this hoodie-with-kitten-carrying-pouch over five months ago, and this is the first time Licorice has stayed in it for more than a few seconds. Look how much she's enjoying it!

October 8: Licorice and Pudding engage in the most ancient and sacred of cat traditions, "Hunting Something That Only Cats Can See"

October 9: This is what you see moments before a Licorice unexpectedly erupts from under the blanket.

October 10: Licorice is queen of all she surveys...

Licorice is also a champ at finding places just beyond my reach.

October 11: I suddenly felt a weight on my back, which quickly became a weight on my shoulder...

October 14: The elliptical machine is in the kittens' room, so the kittens usually stay in a playpen during our workouts. Tonight, we tried not using the playpen.

This was a mistake.

October 17: Licorice is far too mature* to play with window shades** like her brother Pudding

*This is not true
**Neither is this

October 18: Licorice is willing to consider maybe batting at the wand toy, perhaps

October 20: Licorice and Pudding were allowed into the home office today, and Licorice made herself quite at home.

October 22: Licorice has started hanging out near the office door. She doesn't necessarily try to leave through it, she just... hangs out.

October 23: Licorice has a new scratching pad! Pudding is also allowed to use it sometimes

October 27: I was going to put Licorice in the playpen so I could do an elliptical workout, but she had other ideas.

October 29: After months of disuse, the tent on the cat tree has been reclaimed by Licorice!

October 31: Licorice loves her new Ensorcellment hat (size M, pattern by Hunter Hammersen)!

Have a safe and happy Halloween, and always supervise your pets when they play with toys and costumes!
