entering contests to win more books isnt the same as buying more books so technically im not breaking my no-buy-books-except-work-related-books ban 👀
@popstar Sometimes you can get free books if you message the publisher directly saying you'd like to review such-and-such!
@trappleton @popstar heh, I did that once (someone was giving out free download codes for review) and felt slightly bad about giving a critical review.
@lj_writes @popstar lol oh yeah, that's a great point. You still still pay a price, but rather than dollars you pay it in discomfort
@trappleton @lj_writes I used to get a lot of books from publishing houses for reviews/hype because I was actually active publishing writer at the time but uh. Yeah they started sending boxes full of ARCS and wow it spiraled out of control real quick lmao I didn't read half of them.
