I have a colleague, John, who has a doppelgänger, but maybe 10 years his junior, who rides my bus. So one day, I got very brave and asked the doppelgänger his name.
His name is John.
John my colleague has told me that others of his selves exist, roaming the world, at decade intervals. Somewhere, John yet attends high school. Somewhere, his frail and liver-spotted hands rattle a teacup in a nursing home.
John lives between the years 2010 and 2020.
I do not know what futures he has seen and will see.
Some nights they come to him in dreams.
