Covid adjacent, but what isn't these days?

So my announcement that we shouldn't do paper Christmas cards this year didn't go down well with my son. I told him it was an infection risk, and email messages would be better.

Am I being too strict? What's everyone else doing?

There are scant evidences supporting that concern, despite the media hype earlier this year.

If you're still worried you can buy one of those ultraviolet contraptions online, which is also useful for other purposes.

@salixlucida It's not the surface-to-surface transmission that concerns me (although, licking envelopes...) It's the way you have to get closer to people to hand them a card, plus navigating crowded streets where people don't mask up, to get to the postbox. Nevertheless, that study is reassuring.

@rosjackson @salixlucida You could use a damp sponge to wet the envelopes and use a distanced method to hand off cards in person (e.g., set card down on surface and step back for them to pick up, etc) and have the kid write a cute note on the envelope saying something like "please quarantine this envelope for x # days before opening" or something? Getting to the postbox itself, on the other hand, can be stressful if you don't live where it's easy...
