Becky Chambers, 21 days hnnnnng! Can't wait for my preorder to arrive. I'm gonna read the first two in the series again very soon. 📚📖🎉
I think pop culture portrayals of authoritarian dystopias do actual harm, serving to let us deny the existence of the authoritarian dystopia we currently, actually live in just because it lacks a certain aesthetic.
In the rush to get out of the house this morning I forgot a coat. Me, tonight at an outdoor launch party event:
Maybe I should have CWed that 🤔
"The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary."

This was not the villain I had in mind. The one I was thinking of basically caused magical effects by the onomatopoeia he was saying. Like BOOM would cause an explosion or CRACK would cause something to crack.
I finished my A levels! Studying is finally over now, until September. Phew! 😊
Hey y'all. Thanks to @guerrillarain we were alerted to the fact that the Shop had encountered a bug and wasn't sending toots out into the fediverse. The fix was an emergency version upgrade.
So, hooray! We're on version 2.4.0.
Boo: I had to do ops work while at my dayjob.

The Kealing Middle School students shared their ice cream dataset with me - so I made some new neural net-generated flavors.

@edebill Is this you? Because if not, I think I just found your double.
Hey guys! I'm new to Mastodon and trying to figure out which instance I should join.
I'm 16 and a high school student.
I'm very #tech oriented in my interests, and love fiddling around with my #linux box.
I am a total #math geek, currently taking Linear Algebra.
I am also an avid #Tolkien fan, and am interested in #worldbuilding.
I am also a big fan of #DnD, although I don't get to play nearly as much as I wold like.
Any recommendations for a good instance for me?
Well worth a read. Very well written, and an engaging storyline. A curious, sad sort of tale. I wouldn't be able to place it in a genre... historical clockwork themed? But a book that has made an impact on me, and will start with me in my mind.
I've been on Mastodon for like two weeks, and I feel so comfortable here and with the people I follow. I gotta work on posting more often, getting over this 'no one must know anything about me' bug I got from the book of faces, but I just wanted to let ya'll know that I love it here...
I fell asleep while reading A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet last night, not because it was boring, but because I was tired and a little anxious and it was comforting like a grandmother's quilt. I love that book, and I'm only 15% in. #amreading
