It's sort of peak NYTimes that they have a retrospective on The Wire, showing the best 5 scenes, but they blank out the profanities to protect the pure ears of their audience. nytimes.com/2022/06/10/arts/te

This is, hands down, the best possible ad.

I don't think I've ever seen a marketing tie in better than a "50% off for Father's Day" Star Wars sale.

And on the subject of a vaccination requirement... well, it's bullshit to drop that after people have committed. It's bullshit that we somehow made it to 2022 and vaccines aren't required for public life in general (edge cases to be handled as exceptions).

I have yet to see any venue actually enforce "face coverings must [fully cover] your nose and mouth" rule. Airlines don't do that, even in countries where there's still a legal requirement. The idea that an Anime expo will somehow ensure it is laughable.

We have updated our COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols. While face coverings will still be required inside the LACC, we will no longer be requiring proof of vaccination…

I'm super confused by @Tailscale's tail drop "owned by different user; can only send files to your own devices" error; as far as I know, I'm the owner of every device in my talent, and I have no idea how that would ever be different given I'm the only user.

Listening to AMERICANS, of all people, complaining about security precautions in other countries' airports never ceases to amuse and amaze me. They're always so surprised about invasive security measures... You know, the ones modeled on American security theater.

It's hard to hold in my head that my privilege comes at a cost to others. After all, I'm not *personally* out there oppressing others... But I absolutely do benefit from not having to fight for every right and scrap of respect.

These fights are not over. Nowhere close.

If I were religious I would say some god is onboard with Pride right now. Since I'm not, I'll just have to say I am.

I'm settling into Florence for a week at PyCon IT and I'm really looking forward to it; it's been fantastic to see people I've missed for years.

I wish we lived in a 2022 where it was safe for everyone to meet, and not just a risk that I'm willing to take.

Watching three great people I've truly enjoyed working with leave Amazon over entirely preventable issues really breaks my fuckin' heart. We did not need to lose these people, and no matter who we hire to "replace" them, we should never have had to.

I consider myself pretty ignorant of the problems that face homeless people but this is just SO. FUCKING. OBVIOUS. Having to start over, over and over again, would drain anybody's ability to cope.
