Voting is a good first step; necessary, but not sufficient. There are plenty of ways to hold your electeds’ feet to the fire between primaries. Don’t let them get complacent.

Part of that is paying attention to the downballot; that’s where their potential replacements come from.

If you’re good at organizing, help organize people. If you have the means to support organizers, you can help them do the work. Above all, be ready to participate, so your local organizers know how to reach you.

When faced with a systemic problem, the solution has to be systemic as well. That means getting organized.

The results of organizing can look like voting, marching, mass call-ins to your elected representatives, unionizing, even (with a lot of preparation) a general strike.

I accumulated all books as they came out and finally started a binge read now that the series is complete. Avasarala only shows up in the second of the first three books; I think they made an excellent decision to introduce her at the start of the TV series, as she is a delightful character.
