@Fritillaria2 yeah #botany #lichen nerdery! I didn't learn to determine lichen (yet?), but I love the funny words and similar things you meet, when you learn about plants 💚
@knittingsquirrel Lichens are fairly new to me, but they’ve quickly become my second love, after plants. I’m picking it up slowly here and there.
@Fritillaria2 oh cool! i was a bit afraid since i heard that there supposed to be so difficult to determine. but i somehow still believed that it must be possible to get some kind of knowledge just by trying... looking with a book and stuff...
@knittingsquirrel Some lichens are big and very easy to ID. Some are difficult. Easy to start, difficult to “finish”.
So, go ahead and start! “Ways of Enlichenment” is a good (English language) site. Other sites are good for learning how lichens “operate”. A good, local identification book is indispensable. Make it casual and fun and you’ll learn a lot. Lichens are weird, wonderful, overlooked organisms. It’s hard to get bored (but then I’m a total nerd.)
@Fritillaria2 ohhh thank you! I am pretty sure that the lichen (and maybe moss + fern too 😊😂😊) fandom gets me at some point :)

@Fritillaria2 thank you! I have been following Feldbotanik for quite a while 😊 (even though much of what they talk about is far beyond my knowledge as i know mainly about trees (and macroscopic funghi), but it's so nice to read it anyways: watching someone geek about plants!!!)
that is a big downside of not regularly using Twitter anymore: to miss this kind of single themed accounts..
