Messier 63, a galaxy in Canes Venatici, is an example of a flocculent spiral galaxy. Though it has a definite disk shape, it doesn't have well defined spiral arms. #astrophoto

@evilscientistca How have I never heard the of the word "flocculent" before? This is too good of a word for science to keep to itself. I must find a way to drop this into casual conversation.
