It's this huge of my writing that I love so much but so rarely write about them in my long fiction. I don't entirely know why that is, but it is.

I have several short stories with werewolves, but my attempts to do novels that include werewolves have always fizzled.

The magic system in my original world COULD allow shapeshifting at higher levels, but it wouldn't be anything like werewolves.

Maybe one day I'll get a good werewolf book going. *sigh*

@jessmahler I also love werewolves and have this problem. I think due to how much urban fantasy has been done I always think anything I try will feel too generic.

@hummingrain I've had a similar thought. It's really hard for me to find werewolf stories I like anymore because of all the cliches and overdone-ness.

I think another issue for me is that urban fantasy is not a genre I'm really comfortable writing. OW fantasy or historical are more my sweet spots. And werewolves are just so strongly associated with UF... well HF or OW werewolves would definitely break a lot of the cliches. Something to think about.
