The details of what caused #forkoff don't really matter. Whose right and wrong in the inciting argument doesn't matter either.
Here's what matters:
the non-coders who were actively contributing to Mastodon feel/are being driven off Mastodon.
This will result in only coders being involved in masto dev. Which inevitably, WILL lead to a downward spiral as communication between coding-devs and non-coding users falls through the widening cracks.

@jessmahler To be fair, many coders were also driven off Mastodon development too.
@Sylvhem Good point, and potentially indicative of the deeper problem. But as a non-tech person, I'm USED to hearing about coders getting into it with eachother and going off to do their seperate projects. It seems to be a normal part of the tech process.
And from a social dynamics perspective, (which is my geek) it's the loss of the people who can translate between the coders and the end users that will do the most harm, long-term
@jessmahler I agree with you on that.
@jessmahler
How are non-coders being driven off Mastodon?
