to all trans & nb people:

your existence is a blessing
you deserve good things just for existing & being here to experience them
please ask for help when you need it
you don't have to prove your trans-ness to anyone
I love you

My alpha readers are different, because they're there to help facilitate the "value" of the work done. I don't even ask them to read or offer comments, though some of them do! But what matters is that I'm able to assign value to the time spent and this seems to trick my brain into making the work essential for me every week.

4/4

It's very different from my other attempts at self-directed work so far because it forces me to assign value and time to it.

I tried Inktober last month and it was a big fail because I wasn't able to convince myself that I was doing something that mattered.

I have come to realize that this is partially because I have comically abysmal self-worth, and I'm working on that, but in the meantime, I am also working on specifically making my creative life into something I specifically serve.

Alpha club is a big part of that by basically, making my work in progress important to me so that it's as necessary as paying my bills or brushing my teeth or whatever.

some more thoughts about the thing I'm currently calling alpha club but needs a better name someday:

So I am a big believer in Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies, it's the only thing that's ever really explained personality types to me so succinctly: gretchenrubin.com/take-the-qui

I fall squarely into her Rebel camp. I can hit deadlines and manage my "just gotta do this, it's life" stuff pretty normally. I fail HARD at anything "extra," though.

sent out my alpha reader copy for the third week in a row! I am still Successfully Learning Drafting Bravery!

OKAY I am semi-unstuck but I did not go get pie yet. Basically I'm a mess? idk. It's Pie Time.

You're not afraid you won't/can't finish writing the book, you're not even afraid it'll suck, you're afraid no one will care. You're afraid it doesn't/won't/can't ever matter. You're afraid you've arrived so late the party is over and no one told you where the after-party is cuz you're not cool enough. But here's the thing: Yours matters as much as any book ever written if it's genuine, if you believe in what you're doing. There is no "good," there's only true. Write true and it'll be worth it.

Hey folks! My friend’s kickstarter made goal, so I’ve got 4 custom made skater dresses (can be sized XS-5X) (with pockets) to give away.

If I did a donation lottery (folks donate to a charity, send proof, & I draw 4 winners) would you participate?

well hi wednesday!
from my queer dying-earth high fantasy, ft. a grim castle, pockets of magical rot, a prince and his court mage:

The detailed enamel box bore a painting of a stag's head; gilded antlers under a carved obsidian inlay of a human heart. The clutch sprang with a satisfying click and released a deck of cards.

"Mother of Spiders," Egan breathed. The Fate card, with Mother of Spiders and her many arms holding all the threads, save the one cradling a tiny, glittering blade.

Yes, I know some bots are fun/funny, but there needs to be rules for bots. Prefer a place that bans them all together, but at the very least, all should be required to have "BOT" in username. This is a problem on a lot of platforms, and yes, communities do need regulations, as has been proven time and again

I have gotten my original gmail inbox down to very near total inbox zero and my level of excitement about this is disproportionate to the volume of accomplishment

also, savvy folks will likely note I use different user icons everywhere: that is for me, because otherwise I will mix up where I am until I get used to this thing. 😂
