Naturally, I've learned a lot working and researching for this project, and probably had some level-ups in my #godot skills. My latest rabbit-hole is reading up on Wave Function Collapse algorithms, which probably would be an excellent fit for what I'm trying to do. Hopefully, it won't lead to yet another rewrite...

I'm currently inspired by an 8-bit RPG/Octopath Traveler kinda look; not sure if I'll stick to that, but the clean sprite-based style has advantages with marking features on the map which will be very useful.

Unfortunatly, I'll probably not get that far, since I ended up rewriting large parts of the code. So a bit prettier, but also lost a few features I need to rewrite. Still, a much better base to continue work on, so it's not all bad.

My repeat of last year's two-week #gamejam easter vacation is coming to an end. This year I wanted to try to get a prototype I had for a #ttrpg hexcrawl map-generator/campaign manager to an alpha1 state.

@FrankenGraphics That's some impressive use of colors in the background tiles. 😲 They really blend together seamlessly, making the limited color count per tile disappear.

It's also impressive they managed to salvage the Ferengi from their first introduction, to which in DS9 became one of my favorite species in Trek... Them jumping around like monkeys was definitely a choice, when they were supposed to be the new antagonists...

Rewatching #StarTrekTNG to fill in the holes of episodes/seasons I never got around to watching. The first episodes are... something...

@kensanata Absolutely, it's probably clearer in a lot of cases, and I've struggled with translations of Norwegian domain specific words into English as well. And a lot of the issues I've butted heads with are due to inconsistent and poor standards for using Norwegian in standard code.
But between Norwegians generally having a high English literacy, and many foreign workers only speaking English, English will likely continue to be the standard in tech here in Norway.

@kensanata I have mixed feelings about localised code. While I appreciate the aspect of preserving local languages against the hegemony of English as standard, the result is often confusing and prone to misunderstanding. Like `getLast() // get "låst"`, which is an actual example from a project I worked on that enforced Norwegian names for fields...
