That said I don't hate those movies nearly as much as a lot of people do. The hottest take, I know :P

I will forever wonder what the Hobbit movie(s) would have been like if Guillermo Del Toro had been able to direct them as originally planned. (Just looked it up and it looks like delays caused scheduling issues that made it that he had to leave. Which, fair, but a bummer!)

I will hold fast to my opinion that read receipts are a plague, but it is admittedly nice in the particular situation I'm in right now to know that the person hasn't seen the message yet.

How crappy is it that spirituality in politics has been largely co-opted by the religious right? Taoist anarchists, Muslim socialists, Buddhist communists as cohesive forces when.

She also inevitably gets stressed out by me being in her space so much and tries to escape, which means I get to wrangle her back from doing that, too, usually as I'm on my last task or so.

I can't blame her, but blergh.

The whole thing also solidifies the promise to myself that I'll never get an iguana again in the future. She's great, but *so much* work and stress.

Also I was telling myself "I'll clean Jabberwocky's enclosure a bit now and then try to do bits over the course of the week" and got sucked into doing almost all of it by my brain. Again, needed to get done but added a bunch of time.

I also feel like I half assed it because one of the doors is broken and I didn't wrestle it out of the way to get to the areas I can't reach from the other side. But I cleaned all the most trafficked and soiled areas, so good enough for now

Productivity, kinda

Having a moment of "oh it's only 3:15, that's good" and also "holy shit it's already 3:15!" simultaneously.

It sucks because I reaaaaaaally need to get some hours in on the podcast today and have evening plans, but also everything I've been doing has been Stuff That Needs Doing in some way or another.

Someday I'll learn that Sundays need to be allocated purely for chores and I can't really plan any other major work getting done then.

Someone recommended the SimEarth manual as noteworthy and I was like “oh, sure, it’ll just have some basic biology fluff” and instead it immediately slams you with “IN ORDER TO HAVE A HOLISTIC UNDERSTANDING OF OUR BIOSPHERE, YOU MUST FIRST UNDERSTAND THE LIVING GODDESS EARTH”

Which was a fun way to find out that Syncthing will not stop if your drive fills up. Also that Xubuntu can't log into the GUI if the HDD is totally full. And that in the terminal you can't use tab complete when the HDD is full, because apparently that makes a small file as part of the process.

It was a learning experience, I'll give it that!

I do also have a Thinkpad 11e that I picked up a few years ago. Continues the Surprisingly Capable trend, but I couldn't ever convert it to Windows. It didn't even like the weight of standard ubuntu, if I remember right. Ended up using XUbuntu for it.

I'd use it more often b/c I took out the wireless card to prevent distractions, but it turns out the HDDs too full to finish a sync with my desktop and other laptop to pull all my documents over. DX

I mostly want it for couch relaxation times purposes. And writing at coffee shops, whenever the world opens up again.

I do have a nice desktop that I can dual-boot into Windows, but I rarely end up doing so because it seems like a lot of work, somehow? I think because it's a "shut down everything I was doing to play one game" sort of scenario since games are all I do on the Windows side of that machine.

personal tech, money mention

Thought about it and realized that I should probably find a new(er) laptop sometime soon. I'm currently primarily using a Thinkpad x220t, which is still very capable for day to day stuff but likes to get *hot* very quickly.

Plus it might be nice to have something that runs Windows 10. I like Linux a lot but sometimes I'd just like things to be straightforward to get to work, you know?

Buuuut boy howdy are newer laptops expensive. Luckily this isn't at all urgent

It's fall and I wish I wasn't one of those people that runs fairly hot because there are so many cute clothes I don't get a chance to wear. DX

It's getting colder, the trees say.
We feel it in our roots,
We feel it in our branches.

The wind doesn't mind,
But does the soil?

Let us give it our leaves,
Like a blanket,
To show our love.

Hi, fedi!

It's that time of the month again! :gonk:

I need 60 for my ADHD meds, 15 for my anti-depressive + 50 to manage a bunch of Multiple Sclerosis symptoms.

I also need physiotherapy for my back & knee, which are really bad. Each session is 30€.

If you could chip in, it'd be very welcome & appreciated! Any cent counts! :ablobcathappypaws:

Thank you so much for helping! :blobcatheart:

⚠️ URGENT begpost, medical, emergency dental work, sorry ⚠️

The permanent crown won't be in until Tuesday for my front tooth that needed emergency restoration two weeks ago.

The temporary crown fractured and needs replacement. I tried to hold out as long as we could, hoping it would be done tomorrow as they said... but no.

So we need to go have another temporary crown fitted.

I have no clue how we will pay for this either, and I don't know the cost of a new temporary crown. I don't see it being more than $300, but I have no clue honestly.

I cannot live with this crown falling off anymore. It's a serious body dysmorphia issue for me and it will probably damage the tooth if it keeps happening. Temporary crown adhesive from the drug store has stopped helping keep it on.

I can't work right now due to long COVID and psychiatric issues. My partner Alex won't be paid until next Friday (although she just got a promotion). My other partner Violet is still in the final stage of interviews for a job.

Anything helps. I seriously don't know what else to do.

It's apparently International Podcast Day. Did you know I do a podcast? It's called Primary Attribute and it's an actual play Castles & Crusades RPG podcast.

Castles & Crusades is a system that's very reminiscent, to me, of 2nd Edition D&D except streamlined/modernized in terms of how roles are handled. That said, we do a lot of RP, and there's plenty of romance, mysteries, and civil engineering! Something for everyone. XD

You can check it out at primaryattribute.com

work, negative but more mild

Work work, zug zug. Eventually I'll be done for the day. At least I'm able to ignore incoming tickets now since we're beyond the time IT support is officially "open."

If this job was tracking hours, even if I took that therapy hour out of my day I'd be done in 10 minutes. But there's some stuff I need to do to make sure tomorrow isn't hellish, so onwards past that it'll be.
