I almost had to sleep on the chaise last night.
Oooh I’m so excited about a Scrivner upgrade. I was never able to really get the hang of the outlining tools in version 2, so maybe the updated ones will click for me.

The good news is that that messy page of notes is more concrete progress than I’ve made for a while. Being around here and seeing what other people are working on (and excited about working on!) is honestly doing wonders for my brainspace.
Damn, I was really hoping to actually get some creative work done today, but the sum total of what I accomplished is this page of messy notes I scribbled down while I was at work.
We talking about WIPs today? Ok.
WIP1: forgiving myself for not writing anything “serious”, accepting that sometimes mental health and life in general get in the way of novel writing
WIP2: first adventure in a d&d campaign. The hook: You’ve been hired as guards for a trade caravan, but in the middle of the night you’re attacked. The bandits kidnap a girl traveling with the caravan, but you track them to a cave system notorious for being haunted.
I can’t leave work for another half hour (and won’t be able to get home to do any writing for several hours after that) so here. Have a cat.
His name is Sylvester and he’s a Very Good Cat.
I love comics! I’ve also been reading them long enough to know that comics are Bad. You either enjoy them despite that, or you don’t enjoy them at all.
Early reviews of JUSTICE LEAGUE are describing it as something critics will hate and general audiences will enjoy despite the mess. So, you know, comics. They just described the entire industry.
I get that we live in a desert. But it’s still November, and I’m cold. Come on.
Love literally living that climactic moment of every bottle episode where the crew walks into the quarters of one of their fellows to discover that that person has reset the environmental systems.
“Ah ha,” they shout. “It’s you! You’re the one infected with the alien parasite that can’t survive in normal earth conditions!”
“Look, my dudes,” I reply. “It’s not my fault that you keep the air conditioning on in November so I have to barricade myself in my office with the portable heater on high.”

It’s funny that today’s theme is TV when I’m at a rare point in my life where I’m not watching much of it.
Hmm. Just watched the first episode of WYNONNA EARP. In the middle of season 3 of GOTHAM. Rewatching bits and pieces of STAR TREK (which one? All of them) when my roommate has it on.
Mostly I’m listening to podcasts, honestly 😅

in other news, d&d is playtesting WINGED ELVES in 5e and despite the fact that i didn't know that winged elves existed in 3e until yesterday, i am THRILLED
