Sometimes when I'm feeling severely depressed or anxious, I listen to UVB-76. Colloquially known as "The Buzzer", it's a mysterious Russian military station that endlessly broadcasts an electric foghorn into oblivion. Nobody knows what it's for, but the fact that it's always transmitting brings me comfort, for whatever reason.

Anyway, it's having technical difficulties this morning. It gives me the sinking feeling of a call that cannot be completed as dialed.

The static has taken form, and it is now a ghost that speaks in a code I cannot begin to understand.

Though this certainly isn't the first time somebody has used UVB-76 to broadcast words, it's rare. It always raises my hackles whenever it happens; somebody is tearing holes in my security blanket, and I don't like it.
