Postdocs at U of Washington (of which I am one) have been trying to unionize since last fall, against opposition from UW. Yesterday, I participated in a bring-your-laptop "work-in" at the president's office, and today UW said they wouldn't stand in the way any more of a unionization vote. ✊😀

@eskay8 They must have been unionized when my friend was there in 2005-10ish or I wouldn't know about it.
@q_aurelius You're right, it was 2004. I dunno why I thought it was only a couple of years ago, I must be confusing it with something else.

@hummingrain lol I didn't do much other than show up and take up space, but it felt good anyway. I hope the vote goes through--even though I have zero complaints I know things are dicier for postdocs in other departments
