I feel like maybe I should go and poke at my dreamwidth account too, but the chances that I'll have either time or energy to actually update it and/or read other people's posts... yeah... maybe it's ok that it just sits there, quietly gathering dust. DW is great! It's lovely and well run and a great idea and gosh I just can't right now.

eye contact

My "I survived the convention" present to myself arrived yesterday and it is so pretty! I highly recommend getting hair flowers from The Faerie Market - I feel like a character in a Tales game who's found an attachment andI want to wear it all the time.

Oh geez, I hadn't posted in literal actual years... I'm still going to be on the birb site to post Dream Foundry things, but it seems like now is a good time (one thing and another!) to brush off the dust and settle back in to lurking here slightly more actively.

The Dream Foundry's first virtual sff convention is open for registration and programming suggestions! May 16-17, free with a suggested donation (but we really do mean the free part).

We're hosting a virtual convention coming up later in the spring (most likely the end of May but final date TBD)! Stop by our questionnaire to tell us what you'd like to see there:

I think maybe it's time to play Stardew Valley instead of continuing to stare at this manuscript.

Today I will actually be getting work done, she said, extremely ambitiously.

Also, it's in the format of a list story, because writing things that aren't just fiction is hard, friends.

I wrote a thing about going to the Viable Paradise workshop, and it's up on the Dream Foundry blog.

hello! I am taking commissions for silly embroidery. Please respond if you are interested in paying a human to do some silly embroidery for you. Thanks!

The Dream Foundry has redesigned and refocused our Patreon to showcase just how much even $2 a month helps us reach our goals, and we hope you’ll check it out.

Everyone who signs up by November 15th will be entered into a special drawing to win three tentacle beasties!

Also, we're doing a limited time merchandise sale, so if you love our space dragon logo (because it is super lovable) you may want to look into that too. We've got t-shirts, enamel pins, and a trio of bookmarks for keeping your place in all the awesome books you're reading. It's a great way to snag some nice gifts (for yourself or someone else, I won't judge) while supporting a small nonprofit.

Oh hey, did you know that The Dream Foundry's fall auction is happening RIGHT the heck NOW?! We have got SUCH nifty loot - there are these amazing carved wooden trains, manuscript and portfolio critiques for writers and illustrators, signed books and hand crafted items - including a nifty This Is How You Lose the Time War shawl I made to go with a signed copy of the book. You should check it out!

I'm back from Viable Paradise with a head full of stories and a heart full of music and now I'm doing logistics and planning a trip down to Florida to see my dad. Wheeee?

I'm at Viable Paradise and kinda swamped (in good ways!), but I wanted to hop in and let folks know that The Dream Foundry's fall auction is happening NOW!

Hand-carved wooden trains and steamboats! A signed copy of This is How You Lose The Time War paired with a themed cuddly shawl! ARCs! Manuscript critiques! Art! There are lots of nifty things available for a steal, and it's all for a good cause. Check it out!

Also, I haven't been talking about it in some spaces (like this one) because it feels... I don't know. It feels strange. Grief is already weird, and grieving in any kind of public way is also weird. Anyway, I'm ok with missing the funeral and he's ok with me missing the funeral but I'm still having some complicated thoughts about rituals and performance and just... stuff.

My dad is doing ok so far. I wish like crazy I could just teleport. That would solve a lot of problems right now.

My stepmom died this weekend.

She'd just come through a treatment for cancer, and been given the all-clear and told she was looking great and was cancer-free. This is a huge shock, and it leaves a big hole in my dad's life. I'm not going to make it to the funeral (it'll be during Viable Paradise), and my dad has said that's ok. I'm planning to go down to Florida and be there for him when he doesn't have her family to lean on. All of this is just... it's a lot, friends.
